Just a bit still there in the morning
I really love the look of yellow-leaved trees contrasted with evergreens on a landscape that is half brown and half white. So even though the sky was cloudy and overcast, the colors of the morning were pretty nice. Of course, the white part of that equation will be gone before I finish my morning coffee, I’m sure.
One good part of this first snow is that we can already see that the ice guards we had installed on the shop roof will do their thing. They provide just enough resistence that huge sheets of snow do not slide down from the top of the metal roof; instead, they get jammed up at the guards, allowing for smoother melting and fewer giant piles of snow in front of the shop doors.
One bad part of getting even a little snow when there are still so many leaves on the trees is broken limbs. We had about half of one of the apple trees in back by the chicken run fall because of just a little extra snow weight added to the un-fallen leaves. Looks like Montana and Elijah will have to break out the chain saw again!
