Oh, I’m sorry - are we boring you?

….with our AMAZING, colorful nighttime sky shows? Yes, we had yet ANOTHER fabulous aurora borealis last night. This year has just been off-the-charts.

This sky show was unique compared to the other two this year in that 1) the colors were mostly greens; and 2) it had the most naked-eye-visible color yet; and 3) the radiating, shimmering, “curtain” or “ribbon” effect was incredible. It’s hard to explain that movement in the sky, almost like someone is moving around a really strong spotlight. Unfortunately, the video capabilities of the iPhone are not able to record the action.

All four of us went out on the back deck around 10pm and just marvelled at the movement for awhile, and then Steve and I had to go out again at around midnight when the streaking “ribbon” was ust off-the-charts. I stayed up until about 2am, and the show kept coming.

The morning after we just look at each other and ask, “Can you believe that happened? Again?” We are spoiled, ruined forever, because these skies have left us speechless. Just glad we have our iPhone camera to be able to capture all of the color (my old Samsung would not have been able to do the job.)

I watched the late night show from the comfort of my warm reading chair.

Here are some of the shots from a few hours earlier:
