Lifecycles

With spring upon us, there are plenty of signs of life. Seedlings are emerging in the greenhouse. The daily egg bounty coming out of the coop continues to grow.

But the other side of the circle of life is ever-present as well. One of our hens was found dead along a fence line, not injured or sick, just unable to figure out how to make it back at night. With the hens’ free-ranging getting more daring and broad in the nice weather, the risk grows.

And unfortunately, sweet Serena has also reached her end of life this week. Her legs and senses and overall health has been declining for some time, and it reached that point. She was such a good dog. RIP sweet Serena.
