Garden and landscaping are coming along

We originally were going to go camping this weekend, but when the weather forecast took a turn for the worst, we decided instead to get as much outdoor work done as possible. Everything is coming right along (except the sunshine, which has its moments, but which has not yet fully committed yet this year!)

Steve has completed all of the irrigation (even added a buried line to the roses along the right after this picture.) The last pieces to be installed are the timers, which are a critical part of the solution (takes out the human factor.) We can only hope that this year’s infrastructure work pays off with even SLIGHTLY better production!

Montana is working on taming her chamomile forest. The plastic goose in the background was also a gift from Montana (love the little hat.)

The one thing we do not have at this house are BEFORE images! It was just a crazy, overwhelming move, and in the heat of that first season, we just did not take many photos. But I wish we had, because the change is remarkable. Getting rid of all of that nasty, rusted, falling-down fence was a huge part of it. And while this front field is still 99% weeds, they are well-tended weeds. And we remember the messy starting point, which included a dozen 6-foot high piles of dead trees, a giant sand pit in the front where this photo was taken. A driveway that ended in parking spots right in front of the porch stairs, so we were basically staring at the front of the truck. No shop, no garden, no pastures, no dog kennel. An animal shed that was only 3-sided with limited winter protection. So at this time of year, in early spring as everything is just waking up, we can really appreciate the infrastructure we have fixed and added in the not-quite-three years since we moved in! And there are still a few projects on The Board to come!

No fence along the driveway anymore! Field still needs a good mow, probably one pass from the tractor first.

Baby trees in the background.

Got the cute camper all un-winterized, stocked up, and ready to go - then put it all away again when the rain forecast appeared. We will try again later!
