Comet sighting

We do love our sky-watching around here! There is a super rare comet right now in the southern sky just under the Big Dipper known as Tsuchinshan–ATLAS.

The last time this comet was visible from earth was over 80,000 years ago, when Neanderthals walked the planet. Its tail is over 18 million miles long. Fully visible with the naked eye, but photographs with a few second exposure really capture the light.
