Cats take the stage

I have taken a lot of animal pics this year, but somehow I seem to have slightly neglected the cats. Which is crazy because we constantly have at least one sitting on us at all times (including while we sleep!)

Chester, of course, started out as a barn cat at the other house. He lived in the big barn in various secret spots of his choosing. We gave him food and water, but honestly didn’t see him very often. Occasionally he would sit near me on a bare chair in the middle of the 3rd floor barn. No petting allowed. Never in the house - that terrified him, even in icy cold winter temperatures he would rather be out in the snow.

But ever since his stint with minor tail surgery 2 years ago Chester has become a 95% indoor baby cat. He realized indoors is the true good life. He is definitely NOT an alpha cat.

We rescued CeCe at the same time as Chester, and he was supposed to also be a barn cat. But immediately CeCe saw that indoors was way better. I don’t think that cat spent a single night outside. Plus CeCe costs us about a million dollars a year with special medicine for thyroid problems, what a pain. But those blue eyes, oh my!

CeCe’s biggest excitement was when the vet - mind you, this was after CeCe had been examined many times over a 5-year period - realized CeCe wasn’t a girl cat, but was a boy cat after all.
