Canola time
Our prior house was surrounded by wheat (actually most of our acreage was farmed in it.) But every few years, the farmer who handles it all decides to plant in canola instead. We were able to have that once while we lived there.
The first time we saw canola fields was during a drive through Alberta before we moved to Spokane. We actually pulled off the expressway to inspect the plants, thinking maybe they were mustard? Google straightened us out, and now we think it’s funny that we never saw a canola field before that.
Up here in Green Bluff, it’s all orchard farming. But on the drive up to the bluff, we pass those gorgeous wheat fields, and this year it is in canola! The bright yellow doesn’t last long, but it is a beautiful sight while it lasts.
