Apple projects continue

Montana and Elijah picked several bushels of apples from our back field trees yesterday for cooking projects. We came home yesterday to a roaster full of cinnamon applesauce that cooked through the night and was ready for canning today, so we broke out!our formidable collection of canning supplies. This applesauce is great for eating and cooking (eg muffins and breads.)

We still have a large number that we will press into cider on Tuesday. I might even pick a few more before that activity, because it takes a little extra setup and cleanup effort to use the cider press, and for that reason we typically only break it out once a year.
