Starting sourdough

Sourdough bread making was all the rage during Covid, a trend we somehow managed to avoid.

But tonight our grange hosted its second annual sourdough making class, led by a neighbor who owns a Green Bluff caramel business. It was so much fun, and the results were so yummy. So now we are inspired to hop on the bandwagon!

We brought home a tablespoon of starter, and the process involves feeding it flour and water and waiting for the yeast in the starter to do its magic. Then you use some, discard some, and apparently just let it take over your kitchen counter.

We are not letting the fact that our oven SUCKS get in the way of our enthusiastic inner bakers. Should be interesting!
