How do you define Romance?
We decided to forgo fresh flowers and heartfelt cards for this year’s Valentines Day celebration and went right for the good stuff: a new refrigerator!
We love this new kitchen, best ever, but the appliances are horrible. We already replaced the dishwasher because it absolutely did not clean even the mildest dish. We survive with a highly unreliable oven (sometimes we have to DOUBLE baking times, it’s nuts) and what amounts to one and a half usable burners on our JennAir island range. The only reason we haven’t already replaced it was because I am afraid it will lead to needing a whole new island top (though I actually wouldn’t mind butcher block…)
But the fridge was perhaps the most maddening of all of the appliances. Dried crusty hard water drips. An icemaker that constantly froze up (we practically had to keep a hair dryer in the kitchen just for the regular thawings.) And then the last straw was it started randomly chiming at all hours of the day or night.
So Happy Valentine’s Day to us! True romance in action. Icemaker is in the freezer section where it belongs (plus two sizes of cubes!) And a nice automatically-refilling filtered water beverage center on the inside of the door (also where it belongs!)
And the cherry on top of our evening was a game of competitive chicken foot dominoes. I happily ceded to my loving husband after 7 hands in the spirit of the day!
