Getting ready for goats

Montana and Elijah have started preparations for our newest animals - two angora goats!

My friend who lives just around the corner is going to buy my sweet donkeys at the end of the month. It is time for the girls to get a little extra care (and probably a little less food!) for their next chapter, and my friend already has 3 minis of her own. So the girls will become part of a happy little herd just down the road.

And it’s time for us to move on to some new animals, too, with an eye toward a little more variety and utility as part of my new vision that I am calling the “Break Even Homestead”.

Fiber goats are first to be added. Montana is getting two impossibly muddy long-haired male goats from another neighbor which she and Elijah will learn to shear. So a first order of business is retrofitting the donkey shed to be the future goat house.
