Garlic and onion patch looking pretty good
We decided to try our hand at garlic and onion in one of the long rows in the garden. We can’t say we really prepared the bed at all, and I do have a vague recollection of a rather frenetic “get-it-in-the-ground-now” afternoon last fall. I also remember being VERY thankful Steve did not leave me to do that job by myself, because as usual we over-did it with the bulb order.
No fancy layout or record-keeping here - we just numbered the bulbs and gave them a Sharpied stick or flag.
It looks like the German Red and Russian Red garlics are the most prolific by far, though all of them show some sign of life. We will let these set into June, and then once we harvest them we will re-purpose the bed to be a perennial pollinator space.
