A little animal watching
It was actually quite a chilly last day of April, but the sun came out for a bit this afternoon to make everything feel just a little warmer. We noticed that part of that chill dumped some snow on top of Mt. Spokane, not good news for the several dozen plants waiting patiently in the garage to be planted in the garden.
The little hen below had quite a time earlier this month. She was attacked by a hawk and lived through it, but had pretty bad cuts on her top and bottom. She has been healing amazingly well. You can see pictures below of when we had to bring her into the house and give her a warm bath followed by a spray of BLU-KOTE, a spray that is typically used for horse (donkey) cuts. I figured it was better than nothing. But when you compare that poor dripping wet/BLU-KOTEd bird in our kitchen to the hen she is today, hopping around strong and happy - another bird saved from the clutches of a predator. What a toughie!
